About the time I got married, Gayle got married too. Gary her soon to be husband was the first brother to show her any attention, after we went out separate ways. She knew she wasn't in love with him but at the time wasn't sure she even knew what love was anymore.
She told me later she knew she was making a big mistake marrying Gary and thought about backing out of their engagement, up to the day of their wedding. Her family said it was too late and "she needed to do the right thing." She walked down the aisle wishing she could scream and run out of there.
Any doubts she had about Gary were confirmed before the honeymoon was even over. Maybe Gary could sense her apprehension because no sooner were the "I dos" said, it was like a switch had turned off.
The seemingly attentive Gary, turned into "I'm the head of this Christian Household" lord and king and you my obedient wife and will be treated like the rest of my personal property.
She too found out like many young Jehovah's Witnesses do on their wedding night, that they have married someone who they are not sexually compatible with. What a surprise, the sex was terrible....and will be for the remainder of their married life.
Like myself, not ever enjoying good sex before marriage how would they know? For me it would be 30 years after I got married before I ever enjoyed that wonderful sexual connection with another person. Someone who is there with not just their body but their soul too. The same is true for my ex-Jehovah's Witness wife. From what I hear, she is finally with someone she is sexually compatible with also. Her soul mate.
If you are a young, virgin (as most of them are) Jehovah's Witness, you are really rolling the sexual compatible dice on your wedding night.
She like me, both got snake eyes.
Gary becomes and elder and more distant and abusive as he wheeled his authority, sanctioned by his male dominated organization. Plenty of time to meddle in other people's lives in the Kingdom Hall, while spending little time with his own wife and four small children.
Fast forward, another loveless Jehovah's Witness marriage, filled with meetings, field service, raising children and praying for Armageddon to come to make it all better.
At least with death you can get out of a bad marriage, however in the new system you can be married to this p***k for eternity!
Everyone has their breaking point. After years of neglect and abuse Gayle found hers.
Gayle somehow met Ray, a worldly man. One thing turned into another. She had found something she had never experienced before... passion. There was lots of motel rooms and glorious sex. Ray had the key to her soul and he use it to show her who she really was.
However, there was a lock that Ray couldn't open because Gayle was something else too. Up to meeting Ray she was a good Jehovah's Witness. Maybe her marriage was flawed but her religion was not. Up to Ray, she was devout and never committed even the slightest offence against her church and God.
So now of course the pleasure would be met with the pain. Lies, sin, adultery and the shame of those things that would follow after her confession.
She would confess of course because she must and because Ray had given her something else too. He had impregnated her with her fifth child and his first.
She would still crawl back to her husband and organization and beg for their forgiveness.
How would her husband and church respond to her heart felt repentance?
What would happen to her marriage, her children and love child?

In my book New Boy that came out in April of last year I dedicated my book to my "Jehovah Witness friend Gayle."
In my book, I talked about how I meet a girl named Gayle at a district convention in Pennsylvania in 1972 while I was at Bethel. She was only 17 years old and I was 21. I felt an instant connection with her and not being shy, I walked right up to her and introduced myself.
I drove out to see her again that summer. Her mother was less then pleased to see me, since her sister had married another (burned out) exBethelite with PTSD just a year before.
There was one magic moment, when we were in her kitchen by ourselves with the rest of the family in their living room. She had a strange look in her eye. I was too young and too stupid to know what that look was at the time. After many years, I know what the look means now. It means you can kiss me if you want. The kiss never happened, I had never kissed a girl before and for whatever reason didn't pull her close for that magic moment.
If that kiss had happened maybe my whole live would have different.....or maybe not.
Fast forward a month later and I saw another sister while she was on tour of the factory at 117 Adams street. That story of how I met and fell in love with Debbie Stillman in my book. Our 27 year marriage would end when I left the the religion in 2001. For her there could be no marriage unless I remained a JW.
I month after I met Debbie, Gayle came to New York on a High school field trip. I was very surprised that her mother would let her go. She called me and wanted to met. We met at a restaurant. I was there that I told her I was letting her go.
She seem to take it alright but I felt terrible.
I had pick this girl out of a crowd as if to say you are the one. Yet, as I describe it in the book, it literally was a coin toss between the two girls.
I walked her back to room and said good bye.
She told me years later that she was up all night crying.
It would be 47 years before I ever saw her again.

I'm interested in discussing basic JW doctrines that you believe are unscriptural
by AlainAlam inbackground info: although i'm an apostate, i don't hate jehovah's witnesses, or the organization itself.
actually i find that many derogatory comments here are extremely biased.
i think most of them are amazing people, and i wish more non-witnesses were like them.

On the outside (mentally at least) looking in you see the insanity.
After 9/11 it was the same thing.
Peace to you my friend.

Update....Not That Anyone Cares
by 1234 inthis isn't a poor me thread.....just what is going on here in my small world.. since both my son and me own tour companies, when the lock down happened three weeks ago our businesses literally died over night.
we both depended on the tourist that come to phoenix and sedona, so that all went away as people stop taking vacations.
all future tours have been cancelled.. my son moved in with me two days ago, much to chagrin of his jehovah's witness mother.

My son moved in with me two days ago, much to chagrin of his Jehovah's Witness mother. He is already bored out of his mind.
Together we have have enough money to last two to three months....after that who knows.
I never had much in savings, a combination of being a JW for 52 years, (with the end of the world coming any day so why save anything) and a costly divorce after leaving the Jehovah's Witnesses, my wife got $2,300 in alimony a month not child support.
Plus there has been a bunch of just bad and stupid financial decisions since then.
Bottom line here we are. I take complete responsibility.
However regrets? Not really, I bless it all. I do worry about my children and grandchildren and what their world will look like.
The Chinese have a saying. "May you live in interesting times!"
We certainly have those.
Namaste my friends, we will see you on the side of this thing.

I started to post this to "Gorbatchov" question.
The world will not be the same. We all know this.
The voice of "Christmas Future"
The governments will infuse trillions of dollars into the corporations, not its people. This money of course has no real value. It hasn't since 1935 when we went off the gold standard. Because of this, the corporations will survive the coming crash. Why? Because government IS big business.
There was a lot of personal freedoms (human rights) that went away after the 9/11 event and most if not all will go away in the future as we head into Orwellian times.
As George Carlin once said "There are no rights, only temporary privileges."
There will be a collapse bigger than 1929. However the banks and major corporations will survive it, They will consolidate their power. They will bring that power to bare on the those who are not in their club. "The useless eaters" as they like to call us. There will be no "Go Bags" because you are not going anywhere!
People will finally realize that the world was never really run by politics and religion but by big business....just watch the movie "Network."
If you are in an industrial nation everyone will be required to join their club, whether you want to or not. Everyone will get their chip inserted into them, or who knows maybe it will be injected by way of a vaccine that people will line up for.
People in third world countries and those already living off the grid will fair better than those who are still playing games on their TVs and cells phones.
So your only choice will be which subsidiary of the only 5 corporation left in the world you will be working for. "Hi my name is Tommy I work for Safeway a division of Exxon oil."
In the end they will have control of 80% of the planet as we head into...."1984"
There is another option. There could be an uprising.
In which case the movie goes from "1984" to "Mad Max" which is also very scary.
Don't think this is a possibility? How much has your world changed in just three weeks!
Your thoughts?

You have been on the board about 2 months and all 5 of the topics you posted have been about how wonderful and popular the Watchtower and Awake magazines are.
Just because people like to drink Kool-Aid doesn't mean it's good for them.
